Bob Dylan’s Sunglasses, Part II

Vintage SunglassesAs a follow up to my earlier post on Bob Dylan’s sunglasses, I decided to email some vintage eyewear stores to see if they could shed any light on the model of Ray Bans in question. My blog stats show that quite a few people find my post when searching “bob dylan’s sunglasses” so I thought I’d share the one response I got from Chris at Vintage Sunglasses in Berlin, Germany. Here’s his reply to my question about Dylan’s sunglasses (I thought they might be Meteors):

They don’t look like a Ray Ban Meteor to me. But I know that Ray Ban has changed the  design of the Wayfarer-Model over the years. For instance: Audrey Hepburn wore a Ray Ban Wayfarer in “breakfast at tiffanys” (1961). But the “Audrey Hepburn Wayfarer” looks different to the “new Wayfarers”. And the picture of Bob Dylan is from the same time.
Best regards,
Chris

From his answer, I gather that Wayfarers have changed a lot over the years and that I may never find a pair exactly like Dylan wore.  Nonetheless, the search continues…

  1. Dude, I’ve been searching for years and the closest thing I’ve found are Imperial Optical “Mohawk” style or some Polaroid Cool-Rays.
